SAN FRANCISCO& Despite blogger buzz that there wouldn't be a new major product launched at Google's fourth annual Google I/O developer conference, the search engine kicked off its fourth annual Google I/O developers' conference with a bang. The company unveiled the long-awaited Music Beta by Googles cloud storage service and a movies app for the Android Market Webstore. Google also introduced Android@Home, the company's bid to position Android as a home operating environment to control lights, alarm clocks and other home appliances in the future. Hugo Barra, director of Android product management, opened the keynote May 10 by ripping off a number of eye-popping stats to the delight of users. "It's hard to believe a little more than two and a half years ago, we were just one device, launching in one country, on one carrier," Barra wrote in a blog post. Of course, when you launch an open-source mobile operating system and cut it loose to the world, a lot can happen. And happen it did. The growth has been huge in just a few short years.
