Samsung Shows Off Latest Monitors, SSDs, Optical Drives

Korea-based Samsung is one of the few IT-related companies that makes most of its own hardware& including the processors& as well as developing software for consumer and enterprise devices. On March 23, Samsung invited a large group of analysts and media to its San Jose, Calif., U.S. headquarters to spend a few hours checking out what's coming next in the company's many product lines. This eWEEK slide show spotlights some of the company's new ultra-thin monitors, new solid-state drives and other product displayed at the event. In another important business sector, Samsung announced that it is getting more traction with its online application store. On March 24, the company announced that its Apps TV and mobile application store has already delivered 100 million downloads since the launch of the service in June 2010. The store currently offers more than 13,000 applications for Samsung's hardware. Samsung Apps are currently available in 120 countries. France, Germany and Spain account for 40 percent of all applications developed for Samsung's store.
